The M4 Sherman is the basic American medium tank from World War II. Produced from 1942 to 1945, it became the most recognizable American tank. During the war, it was dynamically developed. It was equipped with a 75 mm gun. The ammunition and flammable engine initially made Shermans easy targets for heavier German tanks. Only the refinement of the design allowed the roles to be reversed. A total of about 49,000 units of all versions of the Sherman tank were produced. The tank was used, among others, by the armies of the USA, the United Kingdom, Poland, France, and the USSR. It enjoyed a reputation for being reliable, simple to produce, and well-armed.
