The Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus was one of the most ambitious armament projects of the Third Reich, developed during World War II. Designed as a super-heavy, prototype tank weighing around 188 tons, it was a technological extreme of its time.
The project was developed by the Krupp company on behalf of the Wehrmacht and supervised by Ferdinand Porsche himself.
Although serial production was planned, only two incomplete copies were eventually built. After their capture by the Red Army in 1945, parts of both vehicles were assembled into one complete model, which can still be seen today in the Tank Museum in Kubinka near Moscow.
