Khora: Rise of the Empire is a strategy board game that takes players to ancient Greece. Standing at the head of polis, such as Athens, Sparta or Miletus, we will compete for influence and dominance in the ancient world. Khora is a civilization game in which we will want to lead our country to flourish. Each of the nine rounds opens with one Event card, and we have to collect taxes, earn resources and compete in races on development tracks. Khora introduces an innovative mechanic, where in each turn we assign the results of the dice to two out of seven available actions. At the same time, despite the civilizational background, Khora is a fast and dynamic game. Simple rules of the game harmonize with a wide range of possibilities, and each of the seven available factions has strengths and weaknesses for which we must choose the right strategy.
    
Empire management
All rumors are worth their weight in gold. Especially those informing about the enemy. Will Sparta attack? Did Miletus collaborate with Persia? And what about those insidious Thebans? Socrates? Leave me alone with Socrates! I want to know how many troops our enemy has! What is his income from trade, and how many spies does he have in my palaces. Can you smell it? This is a war, it is fast approaching and we need to prepare for it.
Sometimes you already know when you read the instructions that this is going to be a good game. Khora is one such title. I read the rules and think: Wow, I like this!. Dice that affect actions, simultaneity in the execution of actions, progression tracks that work together, different tokens to earn All of this creates an extremely smooth gameplay.

Preparation
In Khor, each player chooses one of the seven available factions with their strengths and weaknesses. The faction tile is placed on its City board, where there are three tracks for the development of Economy, Culture and Army. Investing in these tracks will allow us to advance on the tracks located on the Main board of the Citizens, Taxes, Glory and Soldiers track. At the end of the preparation, each player, using open drafting, draws five Policy cards that will allow them to perform unexpected actions during the game.
    
Choosing Stocks
The game in Khor is divided into nine rounds, and each of them begins with the announcement of a different Event, bringing various modifications to it. During his turn, the player can perform two (later three) of the seven available actions, marked with numbers 0-6. To do this, he rolls his two starting dice and assigns their results to specific actions. If the number on the die is lower than the number on the tile of the selected action, the player must pay extra for its performance by leaving his marker on the Citizens track.
Available actions
Thanks to the Philosophy action, we can draw Philosophy tokens, useful for advancing on the Development tracks. Each Action of Legislation will provide us with two Politics cards, and each Action of Culture will provide us with as many victory points as our level on the Culture track. Selecting a Policy action will allow us to play one of the Policy cards provided that its cost is paid. On the other hand, the most expensive action Progress allows you to buy another Upgrade for your own faction.
